Our story

Our dream came true when in 1991 we established Tefft Cellars Winery in eastern Washington’s Yakima Valley,Joel Tefft of Tefft Cellars Winery – Yakima Valley, Washington the heart of the Columbia Valley’s wine country. It’s hard to believe that was ten years ago this year. Since the beginning, we were determined to dedicate our knowledge of the wine-making process to producing distinctive, quality wines.

Our home was directly next to our winery, making it convenient, comfortable and… a very short commute. After about five years of establishing our winery, we decided to build a new home… also close to our winery. Rather than tear down our first home, we decided to use it as a guest house, allowing visitors to enjoy the same beautiful surroundings we do, and hopefully, our wines, as well.

We love the total experience of living and working here at Tefft Cellars Winery and Guest House; we love seeing and helping the vineyards grow; we love creating wines that express the character of the grapes grown here; and we love meeting and visiting with people who also love wine — people who find pleasure in learning about the traditional art of wine-making and its relationship with the land. In fact, several times a year, we host gatherings at our winery that are attended by just these kinds of people. Together, we celebrate this beautiful Washington wine region called the Yakima Valley.

We hope you will come and visit us, and that you will find our winery and our wines representative of our commitment to elegance, finesse and harmony.
